It was one of the first visible celebrations of its kind on the island, and the venue couldn\u2019t have been more symbolic: La Guarida, with everything the film *Strawberry and Chocolate* represents for the country\u2019s cultural history.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>It wasn\u2019t easy<\/strong>. Not everyone understood it. When we shared those images, we got a few uncomfortable looks. But we did it with the same conviction that guides us to this day: love doesn\u2019t need permission\u2014only a worthy space to be celebrated.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Since then, <strong>many couples have trusted us to bring their gay wedding to life<\/strong>, each with their own way of living and telling their story. letter-spacing: 1.5px;\"><strong>+<\/strong> and share the desire to create safe and respectful environments.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Behind many of these weddings, there\u2019s more than just a love story. Sometimes, there are silences that need healing or gestures that call for special care.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In two of the gay weddings we\u2019ve organized, it was the mothers who officiated the symbolic part of the ceremony. It was deeply moving to witness family support take shape with such strength and tenderness. She had already faced several experiences of rejection \u2014 including a mariachi group that refused to perform for them.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Our response was immediate:<\/p><p class=\"p1\">\u201cMany of our team members are part of the community. We\u2019re proud of that.\u201d<\/p><p class=\"p1\">There are still people who feel they need to explain who they are before even asking if they can get married. And while same-sex marriage is now legal in Cuba, social equality still has a long way to go.
