Elena and Javier
Wedding in Havana
Elena Tablada and Javier Ungría celebrated their big day in a venue filled with history and emotion. This wedding in Havana was not only an event filled with spectacular details but also a tribute to the bride's family, as she wanted to marry in the same church where her grandparents tied the knot seventy years ago.
Caja en blanco
The Packard Hotel, in Old Havana, chosen as the venue for the couple's preparations.
Early on, Elena got ready in the Iberostar Grand Packard, in Old Havana, accompanied by her bridesmaids and closest friends. Amid toasts with champagne, the final touches of makeup and hair were handled by Natalia Beldaand a photo session on the terrace with views of the city, everything took place in a relaxed and exciting atmosphere.
Javier also had his preparations at the same hotel, but the planning was carefully coordinated so that they wouldn't overlap. Surrounded by his brother and friends, he began the day with a toast with beer, and once ready, he left the hotel early for a photo session in the surroundings of Old Havana.
Essential in weddings in Havana: Iconic Classic Cars
Javier chose a classic car that he fell in love with on the Malecón, and after an intense search throughout Havana, we managed to locate it. In the end, we convinced the owner to rent it for the occasion. Driving this iconic vehicle himself, he set off for the church accompanied by his mother and godmother, who stood out in a stunning red dress. Before leaving, the images he shared with his entourage reflected the elegance that would characterize the rest of the day.
Meanwhile, Elena arrived at the ceremony in a red 1950s Chevrolet Impala convertible, accompanied by her daughter and her cousin. In addition to being her wedding godfather, he also wanted to drive the car, adding an even more special touch to the moment.
An Unforgettable Journey through Havana on the Way to the Wedding
The image of the convertible moving along the Malecón, with her cousin at the wheel and wearing a distinctive hat, evoked the most authentic essence of Havana. Behind them, the wedding procession followed in a caravan of classic cars that traveled along the Malecón toward the church. At times, they interacted with Elena's convertible, adding dynamism and excitement to a journey that undoubtedly became part of the wedding's story.
The Ceremony: History and Emotion at San Juan de Letrán
Getting married in Havana was not a random decision. For Elena, this city represents her roots, her history, and above all, the unconditional love of her grandparents, who raised her and left an indelible mark on her. The San Juan de Letrán temple, located in Vedado, was the place where, seventy years ago, they said "I do." Returning to that same altar for her wedding was not only a tribute to their legacy but also a way to feel their presence on one of the most important days of her life.
From the beginning, the church was the starting point for defining the rest of the celebration. A greenery decoration adorned the entrance, with foliage framing the main door and the stairs, enhancing the architectural beauty of the temple and elegantly welcoming the guests.
Inside, the cascading arrangements on the pews, the altar, and the side aisles maintained harmony with the classic atmosphere of the church while connecting with the decoration of the outdoor dinner.
The musical selection reinforced that sense of continuity between past and present. A repertoire of modern songs performed with classical instruments accompanied each key moment of the ceremony. Additionally, a soloist and a children's choir filled the space with emotive harmonies, creating a solemn and moving atmosphere. During the entrance of the couple and the most significant moments, the performances of "True Colors" and "Everybody is Free" added a special touch, turning each moment into a tribute to Elena's story and to the memory of those who were her greatest inspiration.
The restaurant La Divina Pastora became the dream venue for her wedding in Havana.
Elena and Javier had fallen in love with La Divina Pastora during a previous visit, captivated by its charm and the panoramic views it offers of the Havana bay and the Malecón. When they began planning their wedding, they discovered that the restaurant was closed due to a change in management, which created uncertainty about its availability. For months, they explored other options, but they ultimately managed to confirm the date at this much-desired venue. The restaurant management even expedited the reopening to host the wedding, making it the first event held there after its renovation.
Decoration: A Tropical Tribute to Havana
For the decoration, the aim was to capture the tropical essence of Cuba through a careful selection of natural elements.
From the beginning, alpinia, heliconias, and bird of paradise flowers became the stars of the decoration, standing out in every corner. In particular, the alpinia, Elena's favorite flower, played a central role in the floral arrangements, adding a vibrant and personal touch to the setting. Alongside them, a distinctive element gained special importance throughout the wedding: the pineapple. More than just a decorative detail, this fruit became a central symbol of the celebration, even inspiring the wedding logo. As a result, it was integrated into all the floral arrangements, providing texture, color, and a visual identity consistent with the event's concept.
For the tables, a composition was chosen where flowers and fruits were arranged in a harmonious and organic aesthetic. However, the most special element of the decoration was the head table, which marked a milestone in the history of Aire de Fiesta. For the first time, the iconic swing A-shaped table was unveiled, an innovative design that suspended a floral arrangement above the couple. Additionally, delicate lights hung from this structure, creating a magical effect and establishing an impressive focal point within the space.
Another key detail in the ambiance was the barrels from which the lighting structures were anchored. More than just simple supports, these elements were integrated into the design, transforming into planters filled with tropical foliage, reinforcing the aesthetic continuity of the event and adding a rustic touch to the surroundings.
The celebration: rhythm, tradition, and flavors that are a must at a wedding in Havana.
Thematic spaces were created for guests to enjoy an authentic experience.
Among the experiences designed for the occasion were:
- A seating chart that was handmade on heliconia leaves, adding a natural and exclusive touch to the decoration.
- A special corner to taste carretero coffee, the most traditional in Cuba.
- Cigar bar, where guests could enjoy Cuban cigars of various brands and ages.
- An exclusive area with a selection of premium Havana Club, carefully paired with cigars, offering a unique sensory experience that combined the best flavors of the island.
For dinner, food stations were created, managed by two of the most recognized restaurants in Havana, offering a varied and authentic gastronomic experience. One of the stations served an authentic Cuban menu, which included lechón asado, yuca with mojo, and tamal en cazuela, highlighting the traditional flavors of the island.
During the party, stilt walkers in colorful, vibrant costumes filled the atmosphere with joy, while live music and DJs kept the energy high until dawn, offering an unforgettable experience for nearly 200 guests who arrived from various parts of the world.
A wedding in Havana full of emotion:
For Elena, her wedding in Havana was not only the realization of a dream but also a tribute to her roots and her family. "I can't ask for anything more from life. I am very fortunate to have had the most beautiful wedding I have ever witnessed. The people... the place... the magic... the feelings...", she shared excitedly.

The pineapple was chosen by the couple as a tropical symbol for this wedding in Havana.
The pineapple played a central role in the wedding, not only in the decoration but also in the most significant moments. The pineapple-shaped box held the rings, which were brought to the altar by Elena's daughter, who had a very special role in the ceremony. This symbol, present even in the wedding logo, reflected the warm and tropical essence that marked every detail of the day.
