Getting married in Varadero — but their own way

When people think of getting married in Varadero, it doesn’t always mean a beach ceremony or tropical décor. Aaron and Stephanie returned to the place of their first trip as a couple to get married — but they did it their own way: on a seaside terrace, with dinner under glowing pergolas and an energy that filled every corner. This destination wedding had it all — except the typical.

About to fulfill their dream of getting married in Varadero

Aaron stepped out of the elevator with his entire crew and a smile that said it all. He moved us when he confessed he had been following our page for a long time, and that getting married in Varadero with Aire de Fiesta had been one of his biggest dreams. At that moment, he was about to make it come true.

An uncommon way to get married in Varadero

Unlike many couples planning a wedding in Varadero, Aaron and Stephanie didn’t want a beach ceremony. Instead, they chose the hotel terrace—an elevated space with a direct sea view that offered comfort without giving up the scenery. Before entering, guests were met with a meaningful detail: a sign announcing that the ceremony would be unplugged. This increasingly popular choice reflected their desire to fully experience the moment—without screens in the way.

Traditions that embrace the soul of the ceremony

Aaron and Stephanie chose to include meaningful traditions like the veil and the lasso, often present in religious ceremonies. The veil covered them as a symbol of care and blessing, while the lasso, placed in the shape of an infinity symbol, represented eternal union. It was an intimate and deeply symbolic gesture that connected the moment with the roots and values they chose to honor.

After the symbols, the kiss

The veil, the lasso, and every symbolic gesture had wrapped them in a deeply intimate ceremony. It was no longer just about promises or chosen traditions: it was the moment when, in front of the sea and surrounded by their people, everything was sealed.

More than bridesmaids and groomsmen: their crew, their people, their celebration.

Photos by the sea were a must. They took time in the hotel’s gardens and beach for a private moment and to share with their wedding party. The whole group —big, diverse, and full of spark— was essential to the wedding’s energy.

Later, in the dinner area, one of the most admired corners was the seating arrangement: flower boxes with fresh blooms hid wooden pieces with engraved names among their stems. From there, the path led to the pergolas, dressed with fabric to decorate and soften the sunset light. The long wooden tables and natural bamboo chairs struck the perfect balance between elegance and tropical charm, always keeping in mind we were in a garden by the sea.

An epic entrance

From the back, vintage cars honked as the wedding party approached. First came the bridesmaids, dancing with fake money guns. Then, the groom’s crew made their entrance with rhythm, jumps, and full attitude. Finally, Aaron and Stephanie: he popping bottles of champagne, she ready to toast before the mood cooled. Between bubbles, music, and laughter, it was clear they were in for a wild night.

Amid laughter, there was also calm.

After the initial burst of energy came the moments meant to be savored slowly. In front of the head table —with the full wedding party behind them—, Aaron and Stephanie shared their first dance.

Live cooking and open-air stations

The experience didn’t end with the décor or the toast. The hotel’s culinary offering naturally blended with the outdoor wedding format. Instead of a traditional service, food stations were set up throughout the gardens, with chefs cooking live in front of the guests. Charcoal grills added to the relaxed vibe that works so well for beach destination weddings.

The group was small. The party, huge.

That night brought the most heartfelt speeches, followed by one of the most striking moments for us: a tradition we had never witnessed at a wedding before. Guests approached the couple to pin money directly onto their clothes or toss it into the air as a symbol of abundance and celebration. It was a burst of collective joy—truly unforgettable.

The rest of the night: just party after party. A small group that felt like a crowd.
